Unlike many places across the country, San Diego is resistant to typical fall weather, maintaining its famous sunny days and high temperatures well into December. This alone draws thousands to America’s Finest City every Autumn, but it isn’t the only reason to visit. Food and wine enthusiasts will also tell you that November is one of the best times to make the trip to Southern California. November boasts the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival from the 14th-18th which offers the opportunity to pamper your taste buds with the culinary creations of gourmet food producers, authors, celebrity chefs, 170-plus winemakers and more!
Events you won’t want to miss at the festival include 15 wine tasting and cooking classes, a WineRave, Reserve & New Release Tasting, Wine Dinners, and AIWF Big Bottle Auction & Celebrity Chef Luncheon, Tommy Bahama Rum VIP Party and the star-studded Grand Tasting Event. With so many great activities you’ll need to book a hotel that you can call home for the week! Ocean Park Inn is the perfect location. Set right on the sand just ten minutes from San Diego Bay, the Ocean Park Inn grants you the freedom to wake up next to the Pacific Ocean, explore the sights of Pacific Beach and make the short trip to downtown to experience the action of the San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival.
The San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival is one of the largest wine and food festivals in the nation, and showcases the best of San Diego’s booming restaurant industry. According to the San Diego Wine Classic, “We’ve got our eyes and ears peeled for the city’s most drool-worthy restaurants and newest food trends to hit the streets, bringing you an epicurean experience unlike any other.” If that’s not a reason to begin preparing your belly for this upcoming 4-day event, we’re not sure what is!

09th October 2012
Fall is officially here, and with the shorter days and (slightly) cooler weather comes the aroma of pumpkin spice candles, baked goods and just a bit of fear. That’s right, fear! The month of October is sure to excite adrenaline fiends and tricksters alike, and San Diego in specific boasts a plentiful array of horror movies, haunted houses and loud shrieks. The days leading up to Halloween are full of terrifyingly fun events in America’s Finest City. From September 28th to October 31st, the Del Mar Scream Zone is a hot spot to take in some of the biggest scares of the season. The best part? It’s only a ten minute drive from your relaxing haven at Pacific Beach’s Ocean Park Inn. We promise it will be scary for most, so enjoy a night of thrills at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and return to a restful sleep at OPI, where the sound of crashing waves will drown out the lingering memories of chain saws and screams.
This year the Del Mar Scream Zone has moved to one of the creepiest parts of the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the Green Lot on the far west side of the grounds, close to the train tracks. Start your night off with a haunted hayride for an unsettling trip through the haunted barns on the backside of the Del Mar Race Track. You’ll want to bring a buddy that you’re comfortable enough to grab and hold-onto at an instant’s notice because there will be zombies and ghouls around every corner. It’s sure to be a good time for a family outing, although be cautious that it may not be appropriate for small children. Continue your night at Del Mar Scream Zone’s newest attraction: Chamber of Chills! The Chamber is a twisting, turning labyrinth of scares. End your night at the House of Horror. This year features all new blood-curling scenes with dozens of rooms filled to the brim with fiends, apparitions and scares, all guaranteed to make you run for cover.

Did you know that kayaking in La Jolla is the 5th largest tourist attraction in San Diego? One major cause of the activity’s heightened popularity is La Jolla’s immense reserve of sea life, which includes leopard sharks, sea lions, dolphins, sea turtles and much more. All of these beautiful creatures can be seen on the La Jolla Seven Sea Cave Tour, provided by OEX Dive and Kayak. La Jolla is a neighboring community of Pacific Beach, so guests of Ocean Park Inn are just a few convenient miles from OEX Dive and Kayak.
The Seven Sea Cave Tour starts with tour guides pushing each kayak through the surf, followed by an exploration of an area that guides refer to as “Dr. Seuss” or “Cat in the Hat’s House”. At this site you can get up close and personal with the beautiful—and most importantly, harmless—Leopard Sharks. The tour then allows you to go in and out of several different caves, continuing to view even more incredible sea life. The trip ends with an exciting opportunity to ride into shore on a wave!
Swimming is not a requirement for this tour, so it is a fun and friendly attraction for all ages. These tours are available year-round. Fall and winter are exceptionally great seasons to explore the caves. Booking in advance is suggested because pricing online is discounted from walk-in rates. To view or inquire about booking dates and pricing visit www.diveandkayaklajolla.com or call 858-454-6195.
